慰霊の日

沖縄にとって一つの区切りの日。正午に追悼の意を込め黙とうする。

カミさんと出会うまで、慰霊の日の恥ずかしながら知らなかった。慰霊の日を調べてみると次のサイトがヒット。いずれも公式ではない内容だが、慰霊の日の背景を知ることができる。

沖縄の人にとっては常識的な内容かもしれない、ただ、自分はここまで詳細には知らなかった。6月23日（22日？）の司令官自決、7月2日の米軍による沖縄戦停戦発表、8月15日の天皇による降伏発表、9月7日の降伏調印とそれぞれの区切りが存在している。このそれぞれの区切りの存在、区切りというより経過という印象。

区切られていないこともあると思う。
海外では、8月15日の前に終戦の連絡があったという話もあるが、終戦の状況を知らないまま戦闘を続けた兵士もいる。先日に他界したじいちゃんは中国での戦闘経験者だが、終戦の連絡まで時間がかかったために戦闘はしばらく続いたと話していた。しかも捕虜としてその後2年以上も抑留されてから帰国している。最近も残留した兵士のニュースがある。
原爆は今も精神的にも肉体的にも被害を受けている人もいる。首相による靖国神社の公式参拝について海外からの反応がある。

区切りとは別に、今も戦争は続いているという印象を、改めて感じる。区切る意味が、よく分からなくなってくる。
映像では直視できないような内容もあるが、戦争が残したモノを知ること、それは伝えられ、伝えていくということ。こういうことを思うこと、振り返ったことを考えたのは、区切ることで得られる一つのことかもしれない。
